Polygraph F.A.Q.
How Much Is a Traditional Polygraph
We provide a wide range of polygraph pricing options to cater to different needs. Our polygraph exams are available in the price range of $400 to $1000 per exam.
How accurate is a Polygraph?
U.S. Government studies have concluded that when a qualified polygraph agency conducts the test properly, the polygraph exam is between 88 and 92 percent accurate.
It is crucial to understand that a polygraph is not God or a crystal ball. It is a useful tool for detecting deception, but it is not infallible, and its accuracy is contingent upon various factors such as the individual's physiological responses to each question.
What type of questions can be asked?
Test questions must be limited to “yes” or “no” or “true” or “false” answers. All questions must have definite, objective answers and may not be based on opinions. Each question must relate to past events of a factual nature.
Clients may not include questions using “and/or,” or questions about the examinee’s feelings, beliefs, or future intentions.
All questions must concern past actions or behaviors, such as:
• “Have you…?”
• “Did you…?”
• “Are you guilty of…?”
• “Since this date, have you…?”
How many questions can be asked?
An examiner can usually cover one topic and/or (1) to four (8) relevant questions during an exam. It takes about one to two hours to cover these questions effectively.
How Does a Lie Detector Work and What Factors Can Affect Its Accuracy
A polygraph is not a lie detector, as it is commonly known; rather, it is an instrument used to measure a person’s physiological response to questions to gauge their truthfulness.
A polygraph instrument works on the principle that a person who is lying will experience an increase in their heart rate, blood pressure, respiration and sweat. The polygraph sensors connected to the fingertips and chest will pick up this increased physiological activity and show it on a graph.
The test has four main parts:
1. Pre-Test Interview: This is a conversation between the polygraph examiner and the person taking the test. It helps explain the process, the equipment used, and the types of questions that will be asked.
2. The Examination: This is where the actual test takes place.
3. Data Analysis: After the test, the data is saved and stored on a computerized polygraph system, where it is analyzed and scored by comparing answers to relevant and control questions to assess truthfulness.
The possible results are:
-
Pass: The individual’s responses indicate they are truthful.
-
Fail: The individual’s responses suggest deception.
-
Inconclusive: The results are unclear, and no definitive conclusion can be drawn.
-
Unable to Test: Factors such as physical conditions or technical issues prevent a proper test.
Can Someone Fool a Polygraph?
Some websites claim to teach methods for attempting to deceive a polygraph, but every experienced polygraph examiner is skilled in recognizing these countermeasures.
Reputable companies will ask individuals to leave if they try to manipulate the test (and no refund is given). Those who attempt such tactics are often caught and will fail their exam.
Ultimately, trying to deceive is still an act of dishonesty. Over the years, many spouses have shared their doubts about polygraphs because they believe their partner is a skilled liar. While that may be true, it’s a harsh reality that it’s much harder to deceive a polygraph instrument.
When Will I Get The Results?
Results are typically sent via email by the end of the day to the address provided at the time of booking. However, for late evening polygraph examinations, results may be provided the following day.
Before the test, the examinee must sign a consent form authorizing the polygraph examination and the release of results. The examinee also has the option to withhold the release of their results if they choose.
Can You Explain Why I or the Person Taking the Test Passed or Failed?
Polygraph results indicate whether the examinee showed physiological reactions to specific questions, which may suggest deception or truthfulness. However, the polygraph does not determine guilt or innocence.
Examiners provide a professional analysis based on the physiological data recorded during the test but do not speculate on the reasons behind a person’s physiological responses.
Once results are provided, we do not offer follow-up discussions or explanations regarding why an examinee passed or failed, as the results for that test reflects the final analysis of the test.
Do You Accept Bribes?
NO!!! Any examinee makes any offer of a bribe, the exam will be terminated and the individual will be escorted out of our office and forfeiting their exam.
We are a Christian-owned company, committed to integrity and professionalism. Our focus is on providing truthful, reliable, and unbiased polygraph results, ensuring fairness for every client we serve.
Why Do You Require Full Payment Before Booking?
We require full payment upfront to ensure that our time and resources are dedicated to serious clients.
We’ve found that individuals who schedule without paying in full are far more likely to cancel last-minute or not show up at all, which disrupts our schedule and prevents others from being seen. If you prefer not to pay in full upfront, we understand—and there are many other local reputable companies who may offer different terms.
Our system is designed for those who are ready to move forward and get the answers they need.
Can You Collaborate on a Custom Polygraph Segment for TV, YouTube, or TikTok?
Yes! We’re happy to collaborate on creating a polygraph segment for your TV show, YouTube video, TikTok, or other production. Whether you need realism, a scripted segment, or an entertaining twist, we’ll work with you to make it happen. Learn more by going to our Lie Detector For Video Creators page.
